Downtown Parking Map with Directions

I was contracted to complete a parking map of a downtown area with directions to a specific parking garage. The original concept as requested was for a 3D map. A driving map and a 3D map are kind of two different things so I created a kind of hybrid with transparent buildings and then with a more exaggerated transparent look. The client felt that it looked as if the roads were on top of the buildings. In the end we went with a much more simple and elegant solution as you see above.
I certainly agree with the client that the 3D approach wasn't the best suited to this application, but I can see potential uses for such a hybrid map.
