Premiere Pro and After Effects (Motion Graphics) Portfolio

Illustration, Animation: John Potter - Escape Key Graphics

Below are examples of work I created using After Effects and/or Premiere Pro.

My previous videos (which you can see here) were not all edited using Premiere Pro.

First below is my demo reel followed by individual examples.

Demo Reel:

WHAT IS ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS?:

Adobe After Effects is a digital visual effects, motion graphics, and compositing program made by Adobe Systems. It is primarily a post-production process of film making and television production. It is designed to complement Adobe Premiere Pro which is a time line-based video editing program.

All of that sounds fancy but it comes down to this... Most of those graphics on your favorite news station, or car commercial showing text and colors and simple animation were probably made using After Effects. It can also do many other things like animation and some light duty special effects. A person who uses After Effects may be referred to as motion designer or motion graphic designer.

As you can see in some of my examples still vector illustrations can be brought to life by adding animation using After Effects. This is becoming increasingly popular as illustration moves further from print to online. This accommodates a print version with an online version that provides a little extra.

Much of the motion design done in Adobe After Effects is created using vector art from Adobe Illustrator. To learn more about that please see my Adobe Illustrator Portfolio.

WHAT IS ADOBE PREMIERE PRO?:

Adobe Premiere Pro is a timeline-based video editing program made by Adobe Systems. It is frequently referred to as just Premiere but that is technically inaccurate since they changed the name in 2003. Premiere Pro is the industry-leading video editing software for film, TV, and the web.

Premiere Pro can be used for all common video editing tasks for producing broadcast-quality, high-definition video as well as lighter tasks. It replaces the old fashioned cut and splice type of editing plus a lot more. It is more commonly used for television than film but it was used to edit the movie Deadpool among others.

My previous videos (which you can see here) were edited using Cyberlink PowerDirector which was actually sufficient for my needs at the time. In 2017 I decided to switch to Premiere Pro, butI still recommend PowerDirector.
