Bubblegum Machine Painting (acrylic and spray paint on 18"x24" panel)
Artist, Illustrator: John Potter
This is the fourth in a series of paintings exploring the use of custom linear halftones which is the fancy title for the dark lines in this painting.
This painting was based on a photo I took with my phone in a mall. This seemed to me like a good fun, somewhat retro topic for this series of paintings. I wanted to do something a little more realistic and mature than my previous painting which was a giant tongue. I also wanted to try a more complex and refined linear halftone than my previous paintings. I chose a star shape for the linear halftone.
The painting is acrylic resin spray paint and acrylic paint applied via brush. It was coated with clear artist’s resin.
