About The Catamaran Company
The Catamaran Company is the worldwide leader in all things catamarans. They specialize in sales of new and pre owned vessels, as well as charter services for both bareboat and crewed trips. They operate primarily out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a base in Tortola, BVI that handles most of the charter business. Through their various satellite companies, they also provide closing paperwork, catamaran service and maintenance, purchase for charter programs, marina operations in multiple locations, and more. If it involves a catamaran, they probably do it.
My Full Time Work There
I worked full time as a graphic designer and web designer for The Catamaran Company from 2003 to 2008. It was the last company I worked for full time before starting my own studio. This was not my first experience in the marine industry having functioned as full time Art Director at BUC International, but this was a deeper dive into the industry and a valuable learning experience.
This Project
This was a brokerage ad designed for a double page spread. It listed a number of vessels for sale, each with basic specs and a price. Broker profiles were also included so potential buyers could see who they would be working with.
The ad probably ran in several magazines, but Cruising World in particular comes to mind. Magazines like that reach the right audience for this kind of listing. Boaters who are already thinking about their next purchase.
The challenge with this type of ad is organization. You have multiple boats, each with its own set of specs, and you need to present them in a way that is easy to scan. Readers want to compare at a glance, not read paragraphs. The layout has to do the work for them.
