Street Art and Murals Portfolio
Art and illustration: John Potter - Escape Key Graphics
Modern street art goes beyond walls and murals, often incorporating experimental materials, installation elements, or new media. Artists use public spaces to explore ideas, challenge perspectives, and engage viewers in ways that extend beyond traditional gallery settings. While street art can carry political, social, or cultural messages, its primary goal is to engage and inspire the public visually and intellectually.
By blending accessibility, creativity, and often bold visual language, street art transforms everyday spaces into opportunities for reflection, inspiration, and community conversation. It celebrates art outside conventional venues and invites audiences to encounter creativity in unexpected places.
I was never an illegal tagger or urban graffiti artist. Growing up in a rural area, I was far removed from the street art subculture. That said, I deeply respect the art and the styles that emerged from it. These influences appear in my work, and some pieces meet the definition of street art. However, all of my projects have been publicly sanctioned and commissioned rather than clandestine installations. This work includes murals, vinyl wraps, and other large-scale public art projects.
