Lake Highland Preparatory School engaged me to create a set of campus maps for both of its primary academic venues. Lake Highland Prep is a well-established private school in Orlando, Florida, serving students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade and known for its academic, athletic, and arts programs. The school operates two main campuses: the Charles Clayton Campus, which is dedicated to middle school students in grades seven and eight, and the larger Charles E. Bradshaw Campus, which houses the lower and upper school divisions along with extensive academic and athletic facilities. The Bradshaw Campus includes notable facilities such as the new Porter Family Center for Innovation and Academics, advanced performing arts spaces, and a range of sports complexes and fields that support a diverse set of extracurricular activities.

The school’s request was for campus maps that would clearly represent the layout of each site and convey the relationship between buildings, athletic spaces, and outdoor areas. In approaching these maps, I chose a realistic visual style that emphasizes clarity and proportion, combined with a refined use of the school’s official colors, red and white, to give each map a unified and elegant appearance.

Because the Charles E. Bradshaw Campus is significantly larger and includes both academic buildings and an expansive athletic complex, we determined that a single map would not sufficiently communicate all of the spatial information needed by students, faculty, and visitors. To best meet the school’s objectives, we ultimately developed four distinct maps. These maps divide the campus into manageable zones and illustrate key facilities such as classroom buildings, performance and arts spaces, athletic fields and courts, and pedestrian pathways. Each map supports orientation and wayfinding while reinforcing an overall visual identity that aligns with the character of Lake Highland Preparatory School.

I would love to create a map for your school, business, evil lair etc. Please contact me for your next illustrated map project.
