Iguana Alcove Wall Art
I just completed this mural for Boca Grove Golf and Tennis Club.
This is connected to another two murals. It's kind of a transition point. The mural to the left is an iguana and you can see his tail go through this area. The mural to the right has a geometric background with no basis in reality. It's a graphical abstract with a rendering doe over it at one point. The idea here was to keep this are connected to the iguana and slowly transition to a more abstract painting style. I did this by rendering the iguanas tail as it goes through the area but altering the background to a more abstract style.
The room is an odd shape and has doors and the lighting is not optimal so I went into this with more of a concept than a plan other than to keep the tail going through the area. I used everything on hand to paint this area. I used spray paint, acrylic paint with brushes, paint markers and stencils...If you call stuff I found in the woods templates.
I am pleased with the results. I think that from an artist's perspective this some of the best painting in the room. It's loose but not erratic and the palette is weird but works. The client later requested additional stuff added as you can see in some photos below.
This was not the only mural in the room and I've added some photos here showing how it all fits together.
