Contemporary Style Painting (oils on stretched linen 36"X52")
Artist: John Potter

This painting belongs to an ongoing series that investigates the use of custom linear halftones as a primary visual and structural element.
The underlying concept is to employ semi-randomized color relationships in both the light and dark areas of the composition, while preserving overall legibility through the organizing function of the halftone pattern. As with my other halftone-based works, the process began with a black-and-white drawing. This drawing was digitally transformed into a custom halftone image, which then served as the foundation for a fully realized color painting. In select areas, the conventional relationship between light and dark was intentionally reversed to create visual tension and emphasis.
The artwork is created predominantly with acrylic paint, featuring subtle touches of oil paint and finished with an oil-based varnish.
