Marina renderings and drawings
Client: Pier Seven Resort Marina

This project involved creating lightly illustrated, to scale marina site plan renderings for a proposed dock expansion. The goal was to strike a careful balance between technical accuracy and visual clarity. The illustration needed to be clean and restrained, with just enough detail to provide context, improve orientation, and reference key shoreline features without distracting from the layout itself.
The client supplied architectural drawings of the existing dock configuration along with an earlier expansion concept. While the prior proposal shared some similarities with the final direction, the revisions were substantial from a functional and spatial standpoint. My role was to interpret these materials and translate them into a clear, updated site plan that accurately reflected the new design intent.
The core of the work focused on precise positioning and scaling of the main docks, often referred to as pontoons in international marina design. These primary structures establish the framework for the entire layout, as all secondary elements connect to them. From there, I designed and placed the finger piers (Theses are the small dock-like things sticking out the dock, usually perpendicular to the dock), which extend from the main docks at varied gap widths. Their sequence, spacing, and orientation were carefully calculated to achieve the required number of berths while meeting specific dimensional targets. Equal attention was given to navigable water widths between docks plus finger piers, ensuring the plan remained both functional and realistic. All elements were required to fit within a defined water boundary provided by the client.
All artwork was produced in Adobe Illustrator at a precise scale of 1:72, resulting in vector based drawings that are easy to revise, reproduce, and integrate into planning documents or presentations. I included measurements and notes on the drawings for easy reference.
While I am not a licensed marine surveyor, I have extensive experience producing accurate marina layouts and dock plans. This includes prior work documenting and measuring existing marina facilities, allowing me to confidently support projects that require both technical discipline and clear visual communication.
