Marina Slip and Dockage Map

Client: Treasure Cay Beach, Marina and Golf Resort

In 2017, Escape Key Graphics was commissioned by Treasure Cay Beach, Marina and Golf Resort to create a series of maps supporting guest navigation and marina operations. The primary project included an illustrated property map designed for visitor wayfinding, along with a companion overhead marina slip map developed specifically for slip management. A smaller derivative map was also created to assist guests renting on site cottages. While each map served a distinct purpose, all were generated from a single detailed three dimensional model, allowing for consistent visuals while reducing production time and overall cost.

The overhead marina slip map was designed with clarity and functionality as the primary goals. Its purpose was to help staff manage dockage efficiently while also serving as a practical wayfinding tool for boaters and guests. Labels, slip numbering, and dock layouts were organized for quick reference rather than visual promotion, making the map especially effective for day to day marina operations. This type of focused, operational mapping is a common request from marinas that need accuracy and usability above all else.

To support the project, the client provided an existing overhead venue map, extensive photography, and access to satellite imagery. In addition, I traveled to Great Abaco to conduct an on site review of the marina, gathering measurements and visual reference to ensure accuracy. This hands on approach allowed the final maps to reflect real world conditions and improved the reliability of the slip layout and dock relationships.

The maps were produced using a combination of three dimensional modeling and professional illustration tools, with all labeling and keys delivered in editable vector layers. This allowed marina staff to make minor updates in house while preserving the integrity of the illustrated artwork. Final files were prepared for both print and digital use, supporting applications such as signage, staff reference materials, and guest guides. Although Treasure Cay Beach, Marina and Golf Resort was later lost to Hurricane Dorian in 2019, the project remains a strong example of how clear, well designed marina slip maps can support both operations and visitor experience.
