Robot Painting (spray paint on 16"x20" panel)

Artist: John Potter
painting in spray paintThis is the sixth in a series of paintings exploring the use of custom linear halftones which is the fancy title for the dark lines in this painting.

This painting was based on an illustration of a robot I did some years ago. I was tinkering with images of toys and such when I saw a toy robot somewhere. It triggered my memory and I thought of the robot illustration I had done. It seemed like a good candidate for a linear halftone painting. Once I started the process I could see right away that it was going to work great. I made it right on the edge of visible so that it look like something at a distance but not up close.

The painting is acrylic resin spray paint.
