Tongue Painting (acrylic and spray paint on 18"x24" panel)

Artist, Illustrator: John Potter
painting in acrylic and spray paint
This painting is of a set of novelty wind up teeth with a huge tongue hanging out.

This is the third in a series of paintings exploring the use of custom linear halftones which is the fancy title for the dark lines in this painting.

This painting was based on a sketch I had done a long time ago. I had never figured out exactly what to do with it, but it fit this project perfectly. I wanted to create a situation where the lines and the colors equally defined the image. I wanted something fun, frivolous and youthful and maybe a little edgy.

The painting is acrylic resin spray paint and acrylic paint applied via brush. It was coated with clear artist’s resin.
