Study For A Mural
Acrylic on stretched linen 42"x26"
This painting fits into a series of paintings exploring the use of custom linear halftones (which is the fancy title for the dark lines in this painting) I have been working on.
This painting was primarily created as a study for a mural. The mural is to be 21'X13'. It will adorn the wall of a game room at the Boca Woods Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida. The client showed me examples of art by Jisbar (Jean-Baptiste Launay) and some other pieces that also featured a lot of contemporary pop culture icons. I used multiple methods from freehand drawing to 3D models to my own photography to create a composite “sketch” in Photoshop in my own style. I created the painting in similar fashion to the Photoshop file layering one rendering over an other and letting some of the previous layer bleed through in most cases. The painting process took about two weeks not including initial sketches.
The painting is acrylic and acrylic resin spray paint.
