This map was designed to combine the straightforward clarity of a traditional overhead plan with selected visual elements drawn from the more illustrative show center maps used throughout the event. It was developed as part of a coordinated set of five maps included in the official Miami International Boat Show program, with Escape Key Graphics responsible for both the cartography and the overall page layout of the publication. This approach represented a move toward a fully printed program, replacing earlier solutions that relied on oversized fold out maps to present venue and transportation information.
The map illustrates the interior of the Miami Beach Convention Center along with key portions of the surrounding exterior. The overhead viewpoint prioritizes readability, while carefully applied color and subtle texture help distinguish indoor spaces from the outdoor environment. The artwork is fully vector based and intentionally restrained, using minimal rendered foliage to provide context without distracting from the layout. Exhibition areas are clearly numbered and labeled, and the floor plan is organized into color coded sectors that allow visitors to quickly understand how the space is structured.
Primary destinations and services are identified with numbered markers, and amenities such as restrooms, information desks, and support services are shown with clean, easily recognizable icons. Shuttle routes serving the venue are explained through a compact visual legend, making transportation options easy to understand at a glance. This balance of detail and simplicity supports efficient navigation for both first time visitors and returning attendees.
In addition to its use in the printed program, this map was deployed across digital platforms, on site signage, and broader marketing materials. For an event of this scale, a clear and well designed map is essential. It functions not only as a practical navigation aid, but also as a visual indicator of organization, professionalism, and overall event quality.
