This map shows the interior and part of the exterior of The Miami Beach Convention Center and surrounding area. This overhead map has an emphasis on simplicity but uses color and texture to provide quick recognition of what is the natural, outside world and what is part of the building. The rendering is vector based and minimalist with the possible exception of some rendered foliage. Exhibit areas on the floor of the convention center are indicated by colored boxes. When I first created this map the individual boxes would be numbered but over the years we have found this to be overkill. Now the space is broken into colored sectors keyed on the map. The floor is broken into four distinctly labeled halls, A,B,C and D. Points of interest are keyed with numbered yellow dots. Amenities are keyed using simple graphical icons and shuttle routes relevant to the venue are explained using a simple graphical menu at the bottom left of the map.
This map was produced alongside four additional maps, all of which were included in the official show program, including page layout work completed by Escape Key Graphics. The map was also used across digital platforms, on site signage, and broader marketing materials. At an event of this scale, a clear and well designed map is essential. It functions not only as a practical navigation tool, but also as a visual signal of organization, professionalism, and overall event quality.
