This sign was created for the 2013 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
While I produce a horizontal map for the show each year, many people may not realise that I also adapt the same digital 3D model to create vertical maps that fit the client’s sign systems. These vertical maps use the same keying and navigational elements as the horizontal version, which is approved first, but everything must be carefully enlarged and repositioned to maintain accuracy and clarity.
These signs are strategically placed throughout the show and are commonly referred to as “You Are Here” signs, reflecting the title usually displayed on them. The illustrative elements of the map are especially useful in this format, allowing visitors to identify landmarks and orient themselves within the show in real time. While these signs are not featured on my website every year, they remain an important part of the maps and visual tools I create for FLIBS.
