Yachts Miami Beach 2016 - Island Gardens Deep Harbour Map
Client: Show Management
This was my first map of Yacht Haven Grande Marina Miami At Island Gardens. At the time it was referred to as Island Gardens Deep Harbour by Show Management. I created it as a three dimensional digital model that serves as the basis to all of my subsequent maps of the venue. The marina is on Watson Island in Miami, between the mainland and Miami Beach, accessible by MacArthur Causeway. If you are old enough to remember, it's close to the old Chalks Seaplane Base. I used a similar workflow to previous projects. I render from 3D software, retouch in Photoshop and do final graphic design in Illustrator. In later years when I did page layout of the show program that final page layout is done in InDesign.
This venue has become synonymous at shows with high end superyachts. Big names in the yachting industry gravitate here. The site has ample on location parking and a nice view of the city of Miami skyline.
This map labeled docks clearly and gave a general sense of orientation relative to MacArthur Causeway.

Which Miami Boat Show is this?:
Here is all you need to know... I have been making maps for boat shows in Miami since 2011 and in that time a lot has changed. There have been multiple simultaneous shows, show names have changed and now shows have merged. The assorted show titles used have been Miami International Boat Show, Miami Yacht Show, Yachts Miami Beach, Miami Beach Yacht and Brokerage Show and this doesn't include subsections of the shows like Sea Isle Marina, Museum Park Marina and Strictly Sail Miami at Miamarina Bayside. These shows have been managed by different, sometimes competing, management companies. At some point I have been commissioned to make maps for all of them. I'm not going to try to sort this into a comprehensible timeline or anything like that.
I've endeavored to make the maps easy to find but you may find some hidden gems on my site if you dig. Please enjoy these maps for what they are without getting too distracted by the sequence or sponsors/management companies etc.
